Your Next Step Starts With Knowing Yourself
Educational Mentorship & Consulting
Reflective, evidence-based guidance for students and scientists navigating biology tutoring, college essays, graduate school, and career transitions.
Experience-Led
This guidance comes from someone who has personally navigated every transition it covers. Not theory — real experience applied to where you are right now.
Reflective
Each session starts with self-awareness and assessing where you are at and what your unique need is. Understanding your experiences and values are the foundation of every strong essay, statement, or career decision.
“I’ve found that self-awareness is the most reliable starting point for any transition. Before any session, we slow down and figure out where you actually are.”
Individualized
There is no one-size-fits-all approach here. Every session is tailored to your specific goals, learning style, and where you are in your journey.
My Philosophy and How We Work Together
Biology Tutoring
Biology Tutoring is designed for high school and undergraduate students at any level of confidence — whether you're following along in class, but not retaining, or feeling completely lost. We start by identifying where your understanding breaks down, then build from there using active recall, understanding the why behind the material, and targeted practice. Students leave with a clearer understanding of the material and study habits they can continue to apply on their own.
Essay Support
College Essay and Scholarship Support is designed for students who have lived experiences worth writing about but aren't sure which stories to tell or how to tell them. Through one-on-one brainstorming and editing sessions — or async written review — we identify the narratives that are already there, develop them with a natural storytelling approach, and shape them into essays that are genuinely compelling. Students finish with writing that is entirely their own — honest, specific, and impossible to mistake for a template.

Graduate School Support
Graduate School Support is designed for students and researchers who know their science inside and out but are navigating a different kind of communication challenge — translating years of benchside work, research decisions, and scientific growth into words that tell a coherent, compelling story. Sessions cover statement of purpose development, PhD program and lab navigation, research poster review, and oral presentation coaching. Students finish with the language to articulate what they've built, why they pursued it, and where they're going next.
Academic-to-Industry
Academic-to-Industry Transition support is designed for master's and PhD graduates who have spent years building real expertise inside academia and are now facing a new problem: the skills, accomplishments, and experiences that defined your academic identity don't always map directly onto industry job descriptions — and that gap can make a strong candidate feel invisible. Through resume review and transition coaching, we reframe your academic background into positioning that industry employers recognize and value. You leave with a clear picture of what you bring to the table and the language to make it land.
Digital Resources
Start where you are. Whether you are still hunting for a topic or already starting a rough draft, one of these meets you at that point.
Your Essay Topic is Closer Than You Think
Most students sit down convinced they have nothing interesting to say. This is where that changes. Four short activities walk you from a messy brain dump to the one experience worth writing about, using five reflection questions I use with students who feel stuck before they have written a word.
Eleven pages. About twenty to thirty minutes. Space to write throughout.

Being the first person in your family to go to college means navigating a system that was not designed with you in mind. Here is some of what I have learned — and what I wish I had known earlier.
What College Essays Are Really About (And What They’re Not)
Every year, students spend enormous energy trying to figure out what colleges want to hear. That is understandable. It is also, in most cases, the wrong question to be asking.
